WAIHEKE CINEMA PRESENTS: THIS IS SPINAL TAP – THE GOLDEN 41ST ANNIVERSARY RE-RELEASE
FRI 19 SEP 8:00PM - Tickets $17
We’re turning it up to eleven here at Waiheke Cinema. Why? Because This Is Spinal Tap is back on the big screen for its Golden 41st Anniversary Re-Release. Yes, 41. Not 40. Because at Spinal Tap, nothing’s ever quite… normal.
About the Film
Rob Reiner’s 1984 “rockumentary” follows Britain’s loudest band, Spinal Tap, on their ill-fated U.S. tour. Expect exploding drummers, the tiniest Stonehenge ever lowered onto a stage, and amplifiers that go just that little bit higher. With Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer in full rock god mode, This Is Spinal Tap has been called the funniest film ever made about music. (And possibly the loudest too.)
Why See It at Waiheke Cinema?
Because this isn’t a film you watch quietly at home while your cat judges you. This is a film to be shared in a room full of people, laughing at the same ridiculous trousers, mouthing along to “Big Bottom,” and nodding in solemn agreement that yes—sometimes it’s a fine line between stupid and clever.
So grab your mates, dust off your leather, and join us for the ultimate cult comedy on the big screen. It’s louder, it’s sharper, it’s funnier—and remember: here at Waiheke Cinema, we believe 41 is the new 11.
