The tone appears to follow suit: colourful, fast-moving and packed with references for longtime fans, while still accessible to younger viewers discovering these characters for the first time. The returning voice cast anchors that familiarity, while new additions — including Brie Larson and Donald Glover — hint at a broader, more playful ensemble. If the first film was about establishing the world, this one looks set to expand it in every direction, aiming for something bigger, louder and unmistakably designed for the big screen.

Film Notes
A bigger, brighter cosmic sequel that takes Mario into spectacular new territory.
After the enormous global success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie in 2023, a sequel always felt inevitable — but The Super Mario Galaxy Movie signals something more ambitious than simply another outing. Drawing inspiration from one of Nintendo’s most beloved game eras, the film shifts the action into outer space, introducing Rosalina, Bowser Jr. and a wider cosmic playground. With Illumination once again handling animation and Nintendo closely involved, the project builds on a formula that proved both commercially unstoppable and widely embraced by audiences.
