FILM NOTES

A heartfelt, very funny new chapter where classic toys go head-to-head with the glow of modern screens.

Set some years after Toy Story 4, Toy Story 5 finds Jessie now acting as sheriff in Bonnie’s room with Buzz as her second-in-command, keeping the gang together as Bonnie grows older and increasingly absorbed by Lilypad, the frog-like tablet that can entertain, teach and gently sideline traditional toys. When Woody and Buzz reunite, they must navigate both the joy of seeing each other again and the uneasy reality that a piece of sleek tech now seems to understand Bonnie—and guide her play—better than they do.

Man in Nature

For audiences, the film plays as a colourful, joke-filled adventure that still cuts close to home, exploring the tension between imaginative, hands-on play and the convenience of always-on devices. New characters like Lilypad and toilet-training toy Smarty Pants create comic chaos, while familiar favourites wrestle with questions of purpose, change and how to stay meaningful in a shifting world. It’s ideal for families ready to laugh, tear up a little and talk afterwards about toys, tech and what makes play truly special.
