Spa Weekend comes from the writer–director duo behind Bad Moms and The Hangover, this time focusing on four women who suddenly realise they’ve forgotten how to look after themselves and one another. Burned out and overdue for a break, Jane, Coco and Sophie check into a high-end spa with a strict “no drama” plan: massages, facials, fluffy robes and zero responsibilities. Their carefully curated serenity doesn’t last long, however, once unpredictable Mel arrives with a suitcase full of chaos and a knack for turning minor hiccups into full-blown disasters.
For audiences, this leans into big, fizzy studio-comedy energy—physical gags, sharp one-liners and escalating set pieces—but keeps a vein of sincerity running under the mayhem. Between mud baths gone wrong and midnight confessions, the film nudges at friendship, ageing, self-worth and the pressure to be “fine” all the time, while letting its cast of comedy heavyweights play to their strengths. It’s an ideal pick for a fun night out with mates: breezy, naughty in places, but ultimately generous and affirming about the comfort of people who’ve known you forever.
