Born in Cudworth, South Yorkshire, Michael Parkinson rose from a miner’s family through National Service and newspaper journalism before launching Parkinson in 1971. Across several decades on BBC and ITV, his thoughtful, conversational style drew out more than 2,000 guests, including many of the defining artists, athletes and public figures of his era.
Blending Parkinson’s own reflections with intimate testimony from Lady Mary and their sons Mike, Andrew and Nick, Parky looks beyond the familiar television persona to the private doubts beneath his assured interviewing style.
