FILM NOTES
A compassionate portrait of friendship, family and the quiet courage required to care.
Tender Loving Care follows Amy and Rosie, childhood friends and social workers sharing a home in London while supporting people through public crises and institutional neglect. When Amy’s ageing father becomes seriously ill, her professional understanding of care meets an intensely personal test. The film received its world premiere at Telluride before screening at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Kate O’Flynn and Alice Bailey Johnson bring humour, tenderness and lived-in ease to a friendship that anchors the story, while Marion Bailey and Paul Jesson lend Amy’s family life moving emotional depth. Mike Leigh’s intimate, observational approach finds meaning in ordinary conversations and small gestures. Warm, funny and quietly heartbreaking, this humane drama celebrates resilience, companionship and the people who continue caring when life becomes difficult.
